Cruising Editorials

I know most of you cruisers out there have had your share of overhearing outlandish questions asked by other passengers on your cruise vacation. Not to mention, maybe even you yourself have asked questions that made you step back and ask “Why did I just ask that question?!” No worries, a lot of us have our “moments.” But that does not mean we cannot be entertained by them. So I have accumulated some funny questions that cruisers, new and old, have asked throughout cruise history. I hope your enjoy and have a good laugh.

And the funny questions are….drum roll please:

  1. Does the crew sleep on board?
  2. Is the island completely surrounded by water?
  3. How does the captain know where to go?
  4. When the captain is sleeping, who is steering the ship?
  5. What do they do with the ice sculptures after it melts?
  6. Does the ship generate its own electricity?
  7. What time is the midnight buffet?
  8. I am married, but can I still come to the singles party?
  9. How many fjords to the dollar?
  10. What time is the two o’clock tour?
  11. How do we know which photographs are ours?
  12. Is an outside cabin outside of the ship?
  13. Do I put my luggage out before or after I go to sleep?
  14. Does the ship have cable TV?
  15. Why don’t inside cabins have a porthole/window?

Have any funny questions you have asked, or have overheard on your cruise vacation. We at Top Cruise Club would love to hear about them. If you have any fun statements to add, please leave them in our comment area.

A lot of people have asked us “What is the big deal about reduced deposits? We are going to have to pay the full amount eventually anyway.” Even though you will eventually have to pay in full for your cruise vacation, reduced deposits can come in quite handy, especially during times like these when the economy is a little shaky. And cruise lines understand what their clients are going through, therefore more than ever they are offering reduced deposits.

Why are Reduced Deposits Beneficial?

Reduced deposits allow customers to not have to pay so much money upfront for a cruise that might take place 9 months from now. This not only saves you some money today, but also gives you the opportunity to reserve a stateroom at todays price with little money out of your pocket.

This way customers that are concerned with budgets will be able to reserve their cruise vacation for less, and pay the final amount later on. And remember, your deposit is fully refundable up until the final payment for your cruise!

Reduced deposits are offered through Top Cruise Club’s free membership program. We can provide you not only reduced deposits, but onboard credits and free travel insurance as well! Those who are members of Top Cruise Club, and who book their cruise vacation with us, will be able to take advantage of these benefits! Join Top Cruise Club today, and see why It’s Better When You Belong!

There are times you will see promotions for cruise lines that state “Up to $200 onboard credits!” or “$100 onboard credits for balcony staterooms!” So what does this all mean? What are onboard credits anyway? And what can I actually use these credits toward?

Don’t you hate it when you get onboard and your stateroom is located in an area that can be noisy at night? For example, a stateroom that is located underneath the disco club. Think about trying to fall asleep to “Baby Got Back” playing in the background. What a horrible thought! Especially since clubs stay open until the wee hours of the morning. The worst thing though is that you knew the cabin was located under the club, but took it because it was the last one left or the only one that fit your budget.

The Orient Asia CruisingMany travelers have recognized that cruising is the most economical way to travel. That is because you are provided with your meals, accommodations, transportation from port to port, and entertainment all for one price. And this is even more economical when you explore other parts of the world, like Europe, where it would cost a heavy penny to fly over and then have to pay in Euro for your hotel accommodations and food expenses. Therefore, being a passenger onboard a ship helps you to bypass the use of currency that is valued higher than the dollar. However, what happens when you step off of the ship?

Today, more than ever, you are able to find amazing cruise vacation deals onboard most cruise lines. For instance, Norwegian Cruise Lines has fares as low as $99 for a 4-day Bahamas cruise. Ridiculously low prices are popping up everywhere. So for those budget travelers, who love cruising or thought about cruising, this is a dream come true. However, I would like you to know that after your cruise fare is paid in full, you will find other costs onboard that are not covered in the fare. I am here to tell you that they are not drastic. I just want you to be informed of what is NOT included in your cruise fare, and plan your cruise budget accordingly.

The Best Time to Cruise

September 17th, 2008

As more ports of call are becoming available to cruise ships, cruise lines are now able to reposition themselves to desired destinations during certain times of the year. Even though cruise ships are able to move around more to accommodate the “must see” destinations, there are still regions of cruise travel that have a defined high-season and low-season.

Viking River CruiseSail the Nile river and watch Pyramids appear over the horizon. Cruise through Europe, not around it, and experience castles that overlook the water. Wake up in the morning and be greeted outside your window by landscapes rather than just the ocean.

What type of cruising am I describing? The cruising world’s best kept secret: River Cruising.

I am sure you are probably wondering… How safe is it to cruise to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, or Mexico during hurricane season? There is also a chance you could be asking… Should I even book a cruise during this time of year, with the possibility of hurricanes brewing?

Well I am here to put your mind at ease. Even though hurricane season is prominent between June 1 to November 30, there is a very slim chance that your cruise will be affected by a storm. The absolute worse case scenery is that your anticipated cruise vacation could be canceled. But that is also very rare.

Carnival Cruise Line DishTypically, when you think of the eating aspect of a cruise vacation you tend to think of the following… A breakfast buffet every morning with an omelet station offering bacon, grits, hash browns etc. Lunch buffets by the pool, with hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza and more. In the evening you have the anticipated dining experience, with the lavish menu of cuisine from all around the world. It is so tempting to try everything, especially with the amazing presentation that is accompanied with the food. Don’t forget about the 24 hr pizza and ice cream bar, along with the midnight buffet with the amazing ice sculptures! Overwhelmed yet?
